MantraMatic was formed by Daniel Carter and Julian Lauzzana in 2000
conceptualized during a conversation after one of Daniel's gig's
at The Knitting Factory.
The idea is to maintain a psychology and lifestyle
that will allow one to automatically access one's mantra/groove...
the Mantra thus becomes auto-Matic, like breathing is involuntary,
allowing one to slip in and out of song as a conversation
(think of Broadway musicals, but instru-Mentally).
Daniel Carter has been a major force in the avant garde
free-jazz music scene in New York and MantraMatic offers him
yet another avenue to showcase his skills on horns and reeds.
MantraMatic blends acoustic, electric and electronic music
with a focus on the psychological and liberating nature
of collaboration through improvisational music.
To date, there have been seven live "manifestations" of MantraMatic.
After Primal Digital studio in Brooklyn was forced to close in 2005
the last two sessions (2006/2008) have taken place at
Giorgio Gomelsky's Music Laboratory Chelsea, NYC.
